Meet the Team

Claire Turner

Claire Turner is lead associate and CEX of Landlord Information Network and has worked within the housing benefit system, for over 30 years holding a number of senior posts, including housing benefit manager, asst rent recovery manager and head of network services at a large housing consultancy company. Claire is a welfare reform and income maximisation specialist, in addition to being a private landlord, with a small property portfolio of tenants (most of them occupied by tenants who are reliant on benefits to pay their rent). Claire is also the joint owner of an ethical letting agency in Sheffield, Landlord Letting Network. Claire has an MA in housing policy and practice and is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. 

Roy Ibbotson

Roy Ibbotson is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network and has over 35 years experience of working in the Public sector. Roy is well known in the Housing industry for speaking at conferences and seminars on a number of topics mainly around helping delegates improve performance. Roy now carries out consultancy work conducting reviews of current arrears collection practices and making recommendations on how performance can be improved. When employed by a leading Debt Collection Agency Roy carried out reviews for clients such as Birmingham City Council, Corby Borough Council and St Georges Community Housing among others.  

Rebecca Wilkie

Rebecca Wilkie is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network having 14 years experience in a variety of posts in social housing. The most recent post being; Head of Access and Inclusion, managing the Financial Inclusion and Allocations services, including the allocation process for private rented sector properties. Rebecca has a proven track record in leading and implementing change across services and is an experienced welfare reform strategist, with a particular flair for process redesign and streamlining service delivery. Rebecca has worked as part of a management team which took an ALMO from zero to three stars within five years.  

Bill Fullen

Bill Fullen is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network and ex CEX The Gateshead Housing Company. Bill has over 30 years experience in the housing world the last ten of which were in Director and Chief Executive roles. He led on the establishment of the Gateshead Housing Company and took it on its journey to three stars. He also led the organisation to Investors in People gold status and customer service excellence accreditation. He established Keelman Homes a charitable housing organisation which became the vehicle for the Housing Company's new build programme.


Nadia Kauser

Nadia Kauser is a lead trainer for Landlord Information Network and has over 16 years’ experience working within the benefits service. Nadia is a freelance trainer in addition to working as a Client & Subsidy Officer at Pendle BC. Prior to this she worked as a Benefits Assessor and Customer Service Officer. She has built an excellent understanding of Housing and Council Tax Benefits, Social Security Benefits and Welfare Reform. She is a qualified IRRV Benefits Technician and is working towards the prepare to teach in the lifelong learning sector (PTTLS).


Liz Poxon

Liz Poxon is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network and has worked within housing benefits and the social housing sector for over 21 years. Her roles have included; Housing Co-ordinator, working within the Income Management Unit of Sheffield Homes ALMO. Liz has also held a variety of other senior roles within the Sheffield housing benefit service which required in-depth knowledge and understanding of the complex housing benefits regulations in order to interpret the changes and to train and supervise teams of staff.  Liz is a private landlord, with a small property portfolio of properties, most of them occupied by tenants who are reliant on benefits to pay their rent, in addition to being a joint owner of an ethical letting agency in Sheffield, Landlord Letting Network

Sam Turner

Sam Turner provides administration and IT support for Landlord Information Network. Sam works on a part-time basis at LIN as he is currently studying A levels in maths, further maths, history and business studies and economics at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe school.

Sam has previously had work experience at William lee foundry in Dronfield and as an electricians mate for Earth Electrical Response Ltd. After his A levels Sam is hoping to study maths at university.

Neil Merrick

Neil Merrick is a lead associate for Landlord Information Network and a  freelance journalist who has been writing about housing for 15 years. His articles appear regularly in newspapers, magazines and online publications and he has also been writing reports for Landlord Information Network since its inception in 2011. Neil also writes training programmes for housing professionals, as well as teaching journalism and English as a foreign language. 

Tom Ward

Tom Ward provides administration and IT support for Landlord Information Network. Tom works on a part-time basis for LIN as he is currently studying A level in maths, history, business studies and economics and computing at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School.

Tom has previously had work experience at HSBC bank in Sheffield in a variety of job roles all based around IT. After completing his A levels, Tom hopes to go to university to continue his studies.

Adrian Harris

Adrian Harris provides Website Support and Web Development Services for Landlord Information Network on an on-going basis through his company Web Horizons.

Based in the Sheffield area, Adrian and his team have worked closely with LIN to provide a website which is both easy to use and accessible, whilst also developing an administrative platform behind it to help ease the burden of managing events, training and member services.

Paul Webb

Paul Webb is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network and has over 32 years experience working in social housing, with the last 13 years been spent operating at senior and executive level. The most recent being Head of Customer Policy with the Guinness Partnership. Paul has extensive senior operational experience to accompany his wide ranging policy and strategic skills. He was Director of Neighbourhood Management at 2010 Rotherham Limited where he worked as part of an executive team that led the ALMO to two stars. He was previously Assistant Director at Sheffield Homes where he made a significant contribution to the award of three  stars at consecutive inspections. Paul has extensive range of; change management skills, customer service expertise and a wide ranging knowledge of the social housing sector.

Kevin McCready

Kevin McCready is an associate trainer with Landlord Information Network. Kevin spent 7 years in scientific research (microbial biochemistry) before acquiring 30+ years experience in IT within a large financial organisation.  During that time Kevin migrated from the role of computer analyst and coder to leading and managing teams within the IT operations environment. For the last 5 years he has developed a training and coaching role, designing, creating and delivering a variety of personal skills workshops and training. To support that role Kevin has studied NLP to Master Practitioner status and is a member of the International NLP Trainers Association.


Vivienne Ashley

Viv is a lead associate for Landlord Information Network and a freelance writer with expertise in housing and homelessness law and tenancy sustainment. She is currently completing a doctorate at the University of Essex which considers the efficacy of social welfare policies that seek to promote personal autonomy and responsibility.  Prior to this, she worked for many years within the social welfare sector, latterly for Shelter, providing legal advice and assistance to people who were homeless or badly housed. Viv is particularly interested in the development of services and targeted interventions that can equip tenants with the skills and confidence they need to sustain their tenancies, thereby helping tenant and landlord both avoid the financial and personal costs of eviction and homelessness.


Charlie Stephenson

Charlie Stephenson provides IT Support and IT Development Services for Landlord Information Network on an on-going basis through his company CTS PC Solutions. Charlie is an IT engineer with many years of experience in both business industry including supporting small to medium sized businesses and the general public with their IT issues. Charlie’s primary line of expertise is networking, trouble-shooting, server support, hardware/software support and general IT support for end users – and his by-line is ‘I refuse to be beaten’!

Paul Haste

Paul Haste is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network and has had a varied and successful career in senior management positions having spent over 33 years in a local government environment.  Paul’s last post in local government was Revenues Manager at North Tyneside Council where his remit involved the billing, collection and recovery of local taxation and sundry debts, the latter including the likes of Former Tenant debt and HB Overpayments.

As well as promoting the theorist approach, Paul can also relay his personal experiences having been actively involved in managing front line staff who dealt with local taxation, housing, sundry debt and benefit related enquiries. In 2006 he joined Rossendales, a leading debt collection agency as a consultant and account manager and is now lead trainer and consultant for LIN.

Richard Walker

Richard Walker is a lead associate and trainer for the Landlord information Network. Richard has been working in Social Housing since 1996 & has held Senior Management positions in Councils, ALMOs and Housing Associations since 2003. Most recently he was Regional Director for Metropolitan Housing Partnership where he turned around the company's flailing Rent Arrears performance, developed their Financial Inclusion agenda & turned around their audit position for both rent arrears & welfare reform. Prior to that he was Deputy Chief Executive & Head of Housing at West North West homes Leeds where he was part of the Executive Team that regained the ALMO's 2 Star status.

He has a PG Dip in Public Service Management & a degree in Housing Studies. He is also a member of the CIH & the CMI & he is a Board Member for Unity Housing Association & Enterprise in Leeds.

Helena Taylor-Knox

Helena Taylor-Knox is a lead associate and trainer for Landlord Information Network and has 17 years experience of working in senior positions within supported housing and care. As a Business Psychologist she has worked with a wide variety of organisations and people delivering leadership development through bespoke coaching and action learning initiatives. She has also delivered large scale change management projects and team development work. Helena has predominately coached those in senior positions from Board Members & Chief Executives to Directors & Heads of large departments. Her own experience as a Group Board Member at Green Square has been invaluable. 

Elaine Birtwhistle

Elaine Birtwistle is a Lead Associate and trainer for the Landlord Information Network and has over 20 years’ experience of working in the housing sector, including working for Local Authorities, ALMO’s, RSL’s and the former Tenant Services Authority. Elaine has specialised in rent collection and arrears recovery as well as the management of financial inclusion and development of strategic plans to assist in the mitigation of Welfare Reform. She has also worked in repairs and maintenance, allocations and lettings and is a Corporate Member of the CIH.
